Location: Broadstairs
This Broadstairs project centred on creating a modern kitchen that feels practical, calm, and easy to live with. The aim was not to overdesign the space, but to let good layout and honest materials do the work. Every choice was made to suit daily use rather than short-term trends.
The layout was opened to improve movement and bring in more natural light. Large windows along the sink run create a strong connection to the garden, making the kitchen feel brighter and more open throughout the day. This sense of openness plays a big role in successful kitchen renovations, where the kitchen becomes part of everyday family life.
Flat front cabinetry in a deep matte tone gives the kitchen a calm, understated base. The darker units anchor the room, while timber wall cabinets and open shelving soften the look with warmth and texture, creating a relaxed coastal feel.
The island functions as a practical work zone rather than a visual centrepiece. It provides ample preparation space, integrated storage, and casual seating without overwhelming the room. By keeping the focus on usability, the kitchen remains effective for busy mornings and comfortable for entertaining.
Keeping the worktops and splashbacks consistent helped create a clean visual flow. The marble-effect finish softens the light while offering durability for daily use. The sink was positioned under the window for both practicality and added comfort. These small details are key to well-considered kitchen design and installation.
Lighting has been kept understated. Recessed ceiling lights handle task lighting, allowing daylight to define the mood for most of the day. This restraint helps the materials and layout take centre stage without visual noise.
The project highlights how warmth can be built into a modern kitchen. Clean planning, carefully selected materials, and a functional approach give the space a balanced, comfortable feel. It is a strong example of how well-planned kitchen design can elevate everyday living without excess.
